(next training session begins Sept 21)
Slow As $#*! Running Club is dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for runners of slower paces, especially those who are new to running and are not sure where to start. Our goal is to provide a welcoming community along with an option to mentor those who are new to running.
Group Runs: A weekly group run at a comfortable, conversational pace. We emphasize enjoyment and camaraderie over speed.
Training Program: For those new to or returning to running, this program starts with an easy run/walk ratio with the goal to get you running up to 35 minutes and then to a finish line at a local 5k race. Our spring/summer program focuses on training for the Firecracker 5k in July and our Fall program focuses on training for a local Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving. Registration required.
Overcome Intimidation: Run with others who understand the challenges and joys of running at a slower pace.
Find Support: Connect with a supportive community that will motivate you to achieve your running goals.
Improve Your Health: Enjoy the physical and mental benefits of running in a fun and supportive environment.
Make Friends: Meet new people who share your love of running and fitness and find running partners who run your pace!
The training component is lead by Sole Focus Running staff, Bill Davis. His vision for this program is aimed at those who want to try running or are coming back to running and would like to ease back in. Bill is a longtime runner and self identifies as slow as $#*!, hence the name of the club. Bill has been mentoring friends and family for years with an easy to use run/walk formula that eases you in to continuous running. And the good news is, once the program is over, the runner will have a club to run with!
